Due to their intelligence and their willingness to please, as well as their sure footedness, llamas are good pack animials. In most cases they can carry up to around 1/3 of their body weight: 80 to 100 pounds.

Because of their keen awareness and ability to learn, llamas make good gaurd animals for live stock such as sheep
Rehabilitation
Llamas are used for pet therapy to help aid in the rehabilitation of sick young and old as well as with prisoners. Llamas are very gentle loving animals that are great with sick and or handicapped individuals. They can navigate very well in hospitals, including navigate in and out of rooms next to the patients bed. They are used in prisons to help inmates communicate and deal with mental problems.
